Two suspects in the murder of Nana Fodour, owner of X5 pub in police custody – ASP Godwin Ahianyo

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ashanti Regional Ghana Police service, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, two suspects have been arrested and currently in police custody.

ASP Godwin Ahianyo disclosed that the name of the suspects will not be revealed now as investigations are currently underway.

Two people so far have been arrested and we are keeping their names close to our chest

ASP Godwin Ahianyo stated.

Barely less than 24-hours after the 46-year-old direct relative of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was murdered in what police suspect to be contract killing, Nana Kwadwo Afoduo, a closed friend to Nana Fodour was a suspect.

It is not clear if this ‘closed friend’ was with the late chief before or during his killing but is expected to assist police in their investigations.

The PRO further disclosed that the police has launched a manhunt for the killers of Nana Fordour.

Nana Fodour owner of popular X5 pub at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi near the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional office reportedly murdered.

According to the police officers, they received a distress call about a car being involved in an accident but when they arrived at the scene, they found Nana Fodour in a pool of blood.

Police on their investigations revealed that the armed men made attempts to set his vehicle on fire.

He was reportedly stabbed whilst travelling on the Ejura – Nkoranza road on Sunday August 18, 2019.

The body of the deceased has since been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

Police has initiated investigations and suspect the incident was chieftaincy related.
