Ghanaian Politician and Former Minister of State ”John Abu Jinapor” has spouted off on allegations, made by the vice president of Ghana ” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia” of the NPP. He embellished on the good work and efforts made by the former president of Ghana ”John Dramani Mahama” to address issues concerning dumsor and asked Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to appreciate his productive work under his leadership.

Ghanaian economist, politician, and the current vice president ” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in an interview with the media, commented on the weak governance under the leadership of the former president of Ghana ” John Dramani Mahama”, considering his work as effortless and fragile. He further lambasted him for comparing his government to that of the current president ”Nana Addo Danquah Akuffu-Addo” of the NPP.

“If you want to test the robustness of an economy, you test it in a time of crisis. Thankfully, we have had two crises. Under the NDC, it was an internally-generated crisis, which was dumsor. Under the Presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo, there has been an externally generated crisis, which has been the global Coronavirus pandemic.”

“I just want you to ask yourself, how have these two crises been managed? The dumsor crisis which crippled this economy for four years. What were the mitigating measures offered to businesses and individuals during the dumsor, an internally generated crisis?” .

He further stated; “We saw that even during dumsor, electricity prices were being increased, fuel prices were being increased, teacher trainee allowances were being canceled, nursing trainee training allowances were being canceled. All of that was happening during that particular crisis.”

“You look at the Coronavirus crisis and you look at the difference in terms of what has happened. The President has reduced electricity prices and has made it free for lifeline consumers. He has given free water to all Ghanaians for three months, has made sure that there is a stimulus package of 600 million Ghana Cedis for businesses and we have seen domestic production of PPEs (personal protective equipment) for our health workers locally.”

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stated

According to the Member of Parliament for Yapei and Kasawgu Constituency” John Jinapor”, the work of the NDC between 2012-2016 should be well acknowledged by the NPP. This statement was made, considering the fact that, the current government is benefiting from the good work done by the NDC.

In an interview on PeacFM’s Kokrokoo show, he as well elaborated on the fact that no dumsor issue was handed over to the administration of the NPP by the NDC. He also made clear that the government of the NPP was able to finance the electricity bills of Ghanaians amid coronavirus pandemic, as a result of the fecund work of the NDC.

“If the NPP say we didn’t resolve it, tell us when you resolved dumsor. At least that should be settled. If you say when you took over, there was still dumsor; are we saying we still have dumsor and if it’s resolved too, tell us the period you resolved it,”
