President Akufo Addo Eases Restriction On Religious Activities | Everything You Need To Know

President Akufo Addo in his 10th Nation address has finally eased restrictions on religious activities.

According to President, based on consultation with stakeholders in these areas and data, restrictions on social gathering will be eased in phases.

In the first phase of easing down the restriction, President Nana Akufo Addo said that religious activities thus attending church services and the mosque activities will commence from 5th June 2020.

However, these activities will involve only 100 participants attending church services and the mosque with strict social distancing and other precautionary measures observed.

According to the President, congregants must compulsorily wear nose masks and the church must have a register detailing the names, and contacts of congregants.

He also added that services for religious activities should be a maximum of one hour.

Akufo Addo said;

“We will begin stage one of the process of easing down restrictions. Religious services can commence with a maximum number of 100 congregants who can worship at a time in church or mosque with a mandatory 1m rule of social distancing between congregants.

In addition to the mandatory wearing of nose masks for all congregants in churches and mosques, a register of names and contact details of all worshippers and handwashing facilities and sanitizers must be provided with a maximum duration of one hour.

He further called upon leaders of religious groups to dedicate this weekend religious service for the nation as the country battle the deadly coronavirus.
