Free SHS beneficiary, Frank Adu, a form 2 Science student of Konongo Odumase Senior High School builds helicopter to honour President Akufo-Addo.

Frank Adu, a form 2 Science student of Konongo Odumase Senior High School, Frank Adu, has built a helicopter out of scrap material.

From Konongo-Odumase in the Asante Akim Central District of the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Adu attended Konongo Presby Primary and Junior High School. Adu’s economically deprived background was a challenge to his education.

He disclosed he nearly discontinued his education because his parents couldn’t afford it at the time but he has been able to attend school due to the intervention of the Free SHS programme introduced by the Akufo-Addo.

The 17-year-old inventor disclosed has he built the helicopter to honour President Akufo-Addo for introducing the Free SHS programme.

Frank Adu’s helicopter has the inscription ‘4 More For Nana’ and ‘Free SHS’ and was designed with the New Patriotic Party’s colors on it.

From Adu’s explanations on how the helicopter works, he sated that it uses a sensor which has a picture of Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo on it.

The helicopter, however, cannot fly because the currently installed engine doesn’t support that function. Despite the impediment to his innovation, Adu says he will not relent until he makes his helicopter fly.

The determined young inventor called for support to help install a powerful engine to enable the helicopter to fly.

Adu demonstrated how he would make the helicopter fly once he has obtained the needed support to acquire a power plant, a tail motor, and wireless remote control to fly the helicopter.
