Okada Business: Nana Addo’s Government Finally Introduce Mini Cars “Quadricycles” To Replace Okada

Coastal Development Authority ‘CODA’ funded under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) outdoored to replace Okada.

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku on October 13th 2020 advised ‘okada riders’ not to be deceived by the promise of former President John Dramani Mahama to legalise the okada business.

The government of the NPP, Awuku said, had promised to offer the opportunity to okada riders to acquire cars and pay by installments as an alternative to the okada work when he was addressing the Okada business.

Thedistin.com, had earlier pressed when the Quadricycles mini cars were lined up and it was believed to be what Nana Addo promised.

In a new report sighted by Thedistin.com on Citinewsroom, the government of Ghana under Nana Akufo-Addo have officially introduced the four wheel vehicle.

According to the report, the Coastal Development Authority has designed the CODA Drive initiative to eradicate poverty and create wealth for commercial drivers, okada, and pragya riders.

The new initiative is also expected to help address road safety within the Coastal Development Zone.

According to the Authority, this in accordance with its mandate and commitment.

In an interview with the media last Saturday, November 28, 2020, to outdoor some vehicles, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Jerry Ahmed Shaib explained that under the CODA Drive intervention, CODA will offer Bajaj Qute four-passenger quadricycles to drivers and okada riders on hire-purchase for use as public transport.

The operation of CODA Drive will initially be concentrated in rural areas and city outskirts in the six regions of the Coastal Development Zone.

The CEO elaborated that CODA Drive has many economic and social benefits including but not limited to the income-earning opportunities for thousands of Ghanaian families as well as the reduction in road crashes and consequent reduction in injury and death.

CODA Drive is being funded under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
