The Electoral Commission of Ghana led by Mrs. Jean Mensa has released a latest press as they announce a Christmas break, however, it has emerged that the press is full of mistakes.

On Wednesday, 23 December, 2020, the Electoral Commission released a press issuing that there will be a break for some EC officials however, some will remain to engage with stakeholders.

In the Christmas and New year ‘Recess’ press, the EC detailed that the break is mainly to reduce administration cost and to improve efficiency.

In the release, they said “Following the successful conduct of the 2020 general elections, all the field staff of the Electoral Commission across the 275 districts and 16 regional capitals, having worked tirelessly throughout the year in spite of COVID-29, have been granted a well deserved break.

Now the keyword of mistake here is “275 districts”. Ghana doesn’t have up to 275 districts. As it stands, the country has 260 districts.

It’s obvious that the EC was referring to the 275 constituencies.

As humans, we all bound to make mistakes, and it’s clear that this is only a common one that we should all forget.

The accuracy of the errors of the Electoral Commission, however, has become a matter of concern to Ghanaians.

It all began when they confessed that the presidential results were plagued by certain mathematical errors, as announced by Chairman Jean Mensa.
