Queen Elizabeth II has eulogized the late former president of Ghana, Ft Lt Jerry John Rawlings as part of his burial ceremony that took place on January 27, 2021, at the Black Stars Square.
In a post sighted on the official Instagram handle of Factsandtruths_official, Her Royal Majesty indicated that the late former president made an invaluable contribution to Ghana’s democracy.
The queen also mentioned that she vividly recalls her visit to Ghana in 1999 and how relational Jerry John Rawlings was at several iconic meetings.
The Royal Majesty’s own words were:
“I recall fondly my visit to Ghana in 1999 and the many discussions we had at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meetings”
“He made an invaluable contribution to the creation of the current constitution and returning Ghana to democracy in 1992”
These words were stated in the funeral brochure of the later former president.
