The Food And Drugs Authority of Ghana (FDA) has published the procedures to be followed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in rolling out the vaccination process to protect the citizenry from contracting the coronavirus disease.

The rollout as many has anticipated to capture teachers since they are at a greater risk of infection now that school is in session has gone sideways.

According to the approved rollout schedule, 12,500 vaccinators are going to be engaged across the country in 3 phases and it is expected to run from March to October.

In all, 5 categories of working groups are expected to be taken care of in the rollout with the AstraZeneca and Sputnik-V vaccines.

They are:

  1. Health Care Workers
  2. The Aged
  3. Frontline Security Persons
  4. Frontline members of Government, Parliament and the Judiciary
  5. Persons with underlying medical conditions

This leaves the question; does it mean, the risk of the classroom teachers is not recognized yet?
