Five People Arrest For Possession Fake Covid-19 Certificate In Nigeria

The Lagos Command of the Nigerian Police has apprehended five people at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) for possession of a fake Covid-19 Certificate.

Information according to the Airport Command Commissioner Bature Umar has it that, British Airways passenger, Michael Osagbogun, was defrauded N50,000 by a false COVID-19 test certificate on 19 February 2021 at the airport.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Achibong Idonrenyin, Moses Samuel, Popoola Adewale, Wale Aderele, and Abdulmalik Ibrahim, and two others identified as Shehu Imam and Adeola Darlington were also known to work with Sky Blue Services Limited, a cleaning service in the airport.

One of the suspect approached the victim to help change his positive result to a negative one to help him pass through the system

Two of the suspects, Popoola Adewale and Adeola Darlington, who are very familiar with the airport environment took the victim to one of the bathrooms where they negotiated and demanded N50,000 with the agreement of helping him get a negative Covid-19 certificate

Osagbogun was reportedly taken to the DAT Cybercafe at number 4, Oriyomi Street, Ikeja, where he finally got himself a fake negative Covid-19 certificate.

He was prevented from flying to London, UK, after it was discovered that he had a fake COVID-19 certificate.

The suspect currently under arrest after the victim Mr Michael Osagbogun lodge compalin to the command unit at the airport
