Deputy National Youth Organizer of the NDC, Edem Agbana together with some group of people stormed the GES office at Accra to burn alleged history text books that speaks against Ewes.
Over some days now, there have been an uproar on social media over some textbooks believed to contain some ethnocentric comments about Ewes.
Many have raised their voices to condemn the publishers of the books. According to many, this is a distortion of the history of Ghana and also a recipe for disaster for Ghana if left unchecked.
Per checks made by Thedistin.com, the books include a Golden English for primary 4 pupils and a history of Ghana textbook approved by the Ghana Education Service to be used for teaching.
The books have bigotry information about the Ewes which includes calling Ewes “Juju Lovers” etc. which have been allowed into the Education system, click here to see pictures of the books.
If pupils are been taught such kind of things, it puts different meaning into the minds of the children which continues to create hatred for the Ewes
Earlier today, March 15, a heavy security presence was felt at the offices of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in Accra after a group of people stormed the office demanding the release of copies of a history book for Basic Schools that some people perceived to contain distortions to the history of certain tribes in the Country.
The group is being led by the Deputy National Youth Organizer of the NDC, Edem Agbana who is of the view that, the publishers of the book seeks to change the history of Ewes.
The NDC National Youth Organizer has been calling on people from the Volta Region to make sure that, wherever they see copies of the book, they should pick it and burn it.
The publishers of the controversial book have since apologize for the wrong information on the book.
The National Curriculum Authority (NACCA) have also issued a statement saying that, it never approved the book.
Also, the NDC Member of Parliament for North Tongue, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has also summoned the Education Minister to appear before Parliament to answer questions about the controversial book.
Few minutes after the group arrived at the GES office in Accra, some group of security personnel stormed the place to prevent the group from causing any confusion at all office.
