Hajara: Lady Rumored To Be Married Off To 42-Year-Old Man Speaks And Debunks Reports

The story about Raminatu, a 14-year-old girl who was married off to a 42-year-old man, is proven false; the real lady, Hajara, speaks.

A report about a lady with her pictures circulated across social media platforms in the early mornings of April 4, 2021, bringing fort the attention of child marriage, which is prohibited in Ghana under the 1992 constitution.

The report added that she was married to Alhaji Faruk, 42, in an Islamic traditional marriage (awure) which took place in Kumasi, (read more + pictures here).

The young lady whose pictures were attached to the stories has debunks the trending reports about her.

She says that she is over 20 years old and that she is married, but not to Alhaji Faruk, and that her husband is not 42 years old.

In a message to YEN.com.gh, Hajara disclosed that her husband is schooling in a university in Jordan.

”I am the lady you posted today with a false identity. I’m not Raminatu, I’m called Hajara. I completed Islamic Senior High School 2019 and a student at the University of Education, Winneba. ”I got married last two month and I’m over 20 years old. My husband is not called Alhaji Faruk. My husband is not 42. He is young, handsome and responsible. He is also schooling at Wise University in Jordan.”
