Sandra Ankobiah, a Ghanaian lawyer and entrepreneur, has spoken out after an Accra Circuit Court sentenced Akuapem Poloo to three months in prison.

Akuapem Poloo was sentenced to three months in prison after Ghanaian celebrities and fans pleaded with the court’s presider, her ladyship, Christiana Cann, to have mercy and pardon the actress.

After the court’s ruling, many Ghanaians have reacted. While some were sad for the actress, others were happy.

The latest reaction sighted by Thedistin.com is from our very own, Lawyer Sandra Ankobiah.

In a series of tweets, Sandra Ankobiah has revealed some knowledge about sentencing someone by the court.

According to her, Akuapem Poloo was convicted by the court of jurisdiction after being proven guilty, and as such, her ladyship, Christiana Cann, has exercised her discretion, resulting in her decision to imprison Akuapem Poloo for three months for posting a naked picture of herself with her son on social media.

However, Sandra Ankobiah quizzed if Ghana law system is using the non-custodial sentencing.

Sandra Ankobiah again said Ghana need sentencing reforms. Sandra Ankobiah stated that she needs to read the full judgment used by the court in order to understand the reasoning behind Ladyship Christiana Cann’s decision.
