“Justice for George means freedom for all” – Philonise Floyd reacts after former police officer Derek Chauvin is convicted of his brother George’s murder.

In the wake of the conviction of Derek Chauvin on all counts in the death of George Floyd, George Floyd’s brother Philonise joins TODAY along with Floyd family attorney Ben Crump.

“This should be the beginning of this nation figuring out that we all can live together,” Philonise says.

Ben Crump calls the verdict “a full measure of justice that often Black people never see in America.”

While Philonise Floyd was giving a speech about the court’s verdict, he gave Ghana a shout-out on how the country together with few others contributed to brother’s justice.

He noted:

I’m prepared to fight everyday, because am not just fighting for George anymore, I’m fighting for anybody in the world. I get calls, I get DMs, people from Brazil, Ghana, Germany, London, Italy, they are saying the same thing.

Speaking to the media after the sentencing, Floyd’s brother Philonise was full of praise for the jury that handled the case. “Justice for George means freedom for all,” he said.
