A young man identified as Akwa Abom has been arrested by the police for burning his stepson with a hot knife over N60 balance
The Edo State Police Command has arrested an Akwa Ibom man over the alleged torture of his young stepson.
It was gathered that the incident happened at Erediuwa Quarter off Sapele Road in Benin City, Edo state on Saturday, May 16.
According to a neighbour, who spoke to activist and coordinator of human rights group, Talakwa Parliament, the suspect allegedly assaulted the boy and burned his body with a hot knife claiming he stole N20 to buy groundnut and sugar which he used to drink Gari.
Before he was arrested, the suspect had run away from home after neighbors raised an alarm.
