Joynews have come under scrutiny for allegedly spreading fake news on their media leading to the death of 2 additional people in Ejura
After the presidential committee enquiry into the Ejura shooting it’s been reported that Joynews gave a false publication about the status of Iddrisu Mohammed alias Kaaka.
During the reportage concerning the death of Kaaka, it was reported that Kaaka was part of the FIX THE COUNTRY Campaign and was killed due to his advocacy.

This reportage created much agitation and anger among the youth, leading to an unannounced protest in Ejura and a clash with the police and military.
After the clash between the military and the youth of Ejura, two people lost their lives, many were injured and a 16-year-old boy got his right leg amputated
