Video: ‘I Didn’t Think Properly Before Entering Into Sputnik V Contract’ – Health Minister

Health Minister during parliamentary interrogation has admitted errors of bridge over parliamentary procedures in the purchase of Covid-19 vaccine.

The Parliamentary committee on enquiries summoned the health minister, Hon Agyeman Manu over his inability to seek for parliamentary approval before making attempt to secure the vaccines for the country.

This comes at the time of Ghana inability to secure a second batch of Covid-19 vaccine after botched contract between the government of Ghana and Emirati middleman Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum to procure Sputnik V vaccines.

The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, on Monday, July 19 appeared before the nine-member bi-partisan committee set up by Parliament to probe into the Sputnik V Contract.

However, in a response the minister made the committee aware that he made the decision at the time the country was in an emergency era when cases we rising.

On the issue of getting parliamentary approval, he stated that since it was an urgent issue he based on the legislative Instruments to make decisions hence didn’t through to seek parliamentary approval
